Preparing Children for a New Baby

Welcoming a new baby is exciting, but it can also be a big adjustment for older siblings. Our Super Sibling® class is designed to help children feel included, confident, and excited about becoming a big brother or big sister.

Through age-appropriate videos, interactive activities, discussion, and hands-on learning, children will discover what life with a newborn is really like while learning how important their new role will be. Rather than focusing only on the baby, this class also helps children recognize and express their own feelings, understand that mixed emotions are normal, and develop positive ways to adjust to this exciting family change.

During class, children will learn:

  • What newborn babies look like and why they behave the way they do

  • Why babies cry, sleep so much, and need frequent feedings

  • Safe and gentle ways to interact with a newborn

  • Age-appropriate ways they can help care for the baby

  • What changes to expect once the baby comes home

  • How to recognize and talk about their feelings—including excitement, frustration, jealousy, and pride

  • Practical ways to become a caring, confident "Super Sibling"

The class is designed to be fun, engaging, and interactive while providing realistic expectations about life with a new baby. Every child will leave feeling better prepared for one of the biggest transitions their family will experience.
